Hello!

My name is Zakiya.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern, I help individuals, couples, and families navigate challenges and strengthen their relationships. My approach is holistic and integrative, combining mind, body, and spirit to address both the tangible and inner aspects of change. For individuals, my focus includes life and career transitions, maternal mental health, and religious trauma. My relational work centers on couples, intergenerational family dynamics, and parenting.

In our sessions, you’ll find a supportive space to speak openly, reflect deeply, and explore new ways of approaching life’s challenges. I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, with my core work grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Contextual Family Therapy, adapting each to fit your unique needs and goals.

Before becoming a therapist, I was a professor of religious studies, worked with internationally focused nonprofits in education, health, and youth services, and homeschooled my children. These experiences have given me a unique perspective on guiding individuals through change, whether it’s shifting relationships, finding balance at home, or making major life decisions, while understanding the larger systems that influence each person’s story.

I believe meaningful growth comes from looking at both who we are and the relationships that shape us. Together, we’ll work toward clarity, connection, and a sense of direction that feels right for you.

Outside of my work, I enjoy traveling, watching documentaries, reading, gardening, and spending time with my husband and our two children. I look forward to supporting you on your path to growth and healing.
