Hello!
My name is Ohara.
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT). I have been dedicated to the psychology field for almost a decade. I dedicated years contributing to research in the field of global mental health and psychopathy at Emory University. I then went on to pursue a career as a therapist, attending Mercer University to get my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have certifications in Prepare and Enrich, Gottman, and trauma, ADHD, and LGBTQIA-specific treatment.
I offer a casual, open, and comfortable space for my clients! I believe in being authentic and true to myself in session! I want my clients to feel like they are talking to an old friend whom they can laugh, cry, and confide in. I am proud to go against the norm and be innovative in therapy, offering diverse hours, methods, and mediums of therapy!
My ideal client is motivated to learn more about themselves, exploring their values and identity! I have experience working with a wide variety of diverse clients, in particular, I love working with young-adults, LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse folks! Some of the issues I like to work with are: ADHD, sex-related issues, LGBTQ+ specific issues, and personality disorders. I also love working with pre-marital couples and have the tools to help the future of your relationship prosper! What makes me stand out as a therapist is my creative innovation and open-mindedness as to what therapy can look like. I am keen on using Experiential Therapy and Gestalt therapy! Both types are centered around the therapeutic relationship! I also use Immersive Coaching where I see fit. Immersive Coaching is an unconventional method where "I do life with you"! It's basically real world support in the moment (i.e. attending an event with you if you have social anxiety)!
Additionally, I have a lot of shared personal experiences with my clients. I am a member of and advocate for the LQBTQ+ community and I also have ADHD. As someone with ADHD who sees ADHD clients, I meet my clients where they are at and I speak your language, because I understand the struggle!
I offer therapy in-person with my toothless and hairless dog Bonnie or virtually (with Bonnie at my feet ofc). If you cannot tell that I have ADHD from sessions, outside of therapy my neurodivergence takes a spotlight.
On any given day you can find me roller skating in the park, watching Titanic for the 83rd time, writing music, painting, making puppets, crying in the shower, cooking, hosting a social event, playing Roblox, chatting with a friend, or trying my absolute hardest to do a cartwheel (I will one day, I swear). While doing all of these activities you can always find my dog Bonnie right beside me (Bonnie has severe separation anxiety and I definitely enable this behavior).
